AT&T copper retirement in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend
AT&T retires copper one distribution area at a time inside each wire center, under FCC notices.
- Corpus Christi: parts of all seven wire centers (Wyman, Calallen, Flour Bluff, Padre Island, Corpus Christi Terminal, Tulip, CRCHTXBU), notice ATT20240025C, since April 2024.
- Alice, Kingsville, Rockport, Mathis: parts of each, notices ATT20240023C, ATT20240031C, ATT20240033C and ATT20240176C.
- More Texas wire centers were added in 2026 (FCC WC 26-162 and WC 26-192). AT&T plans to retire copper across its footprint by the end of 2029.
- Notices list distribution areas, not street addresses, and the notice period is now about 90 days.
